My New Space

It's official. The apartment is now truly mine! I signed and dropped off the last of my paper work yesterday and picked up my keys:-) It is a very surreal feeling. Knowing that this place will be mine and mine alone. I am paying for it, no one else is involved. All that is left to do it travel back to PA to get all of my belongings. Chris and I leave tomorrow and will be driving back on the 2nd with all of my stuff. So any of you that are in PA/MD that would like to come visit, please stop by anytime on the 1st.

I am beyond ready for my own space right now. I cannot wait to be creative and decorate(a lot of which you will see told of on here:-). I am also ready to feel settled. Ever since I left for college almost three years ago, my live has been devoid of any sort of settled feeling. Which was great during the Academy. It got me out of my comfort zone and made me adaptable. Now however, I cannot explain it in anyway except i just feel like it is my time to be settled.

I must confess, I have been visiting animal shelters again. I cannot help it. I have such a draw to canine creatures that if I had just a once less of self control, I would have five dogs by now. I do strongly encourage all of you to adopt a shelter or rescue dog. There are so many sweet and loving animals at shelters that would make excellent pets. There are a lot more animal surrenders now than there ever has been. The economy has made people cut back and sadly, pets are sometimes not very high on the priority list. On the positive side however, the chances for an adopted shelter dog to have previous "potty" and obedience training is higher because of this. Not to say that with a little love and patience a stray dog could easily be trained, but if that is not for you there are easier options when adopting a dog. Just go to your local shelter and ask for information about some of the dogs. The staff will be happy to help since most shelters are staffed mainly by volunteers that care deeply about animal welfare. The more questions you ask and the more info you get the better chance you have with finding a dog that will be the perfect match for you and your family. This is a step that most people skip when adding a dog to their home. That is the reason behind most of the unwanted animals you find in shelters and rescues today.

Ok, now that is out of my system;-) I am off. I have a little packing to do and then work tonight.
